TEAN online flexible professional development course April/May 2023

The Being a Teacher Educator online flexible professional development course is aimed primarily at university-based teacher educators who have more than three years’ experience in an academic post. Experienced school-based teacher educators who are interested in developing research-informed practice may also find the course valuable. The course focuses on professional learning and contribution through research and consultancy work. Study workload is estimated at three hours per week.
There is a fee of £150 to join the online Being a Teacher Educator course. Delegates to TEAN Conference 2023 are able to claim a fee waiver for the course (a similar fee and fee waiver for conference delegates applies to the Becoming a Teacher Educator course).
The three-week Being a Teacher Educator course is comprised of three modules, each supported by self-study materials and online moderated discussion forums. Each module also has an optional live video online discussion session. The facilitators include Professor Pete Boyd, Dr Pippa Leslie, Professor Jean Murray, and Dr Liz White.
Module One – Developing Thinking and Writing in Teacher Education. Topics include: building research capacity; thinking and writing support strategies; research mentoring.
Module Two – Developing Evaluative Judgment in Teacher Education. Topics include: judging research quality; writing a journal paper; writing for impact.
Module Three – Managing Your Career Development. Topics include: career choices and trajectories; well-being and workload management; identifying special interest networks.
The Being a Teacher Educator course is hosted by TEAN (Teacher Education Advancement Network). The course fee is £150 and the deadline for registration is the 7th April 2023. Click this link to register.

To gain a formal certificate of completion, participants are required to complete and submit a concise, action-oriented, reflective log by the deadline of 31st May 2023.
